Birds lay eggs and give birth to babies

What to do if the bird lays eggs

What should you do if the bird lays eggs

1. First of all remember the Creator because without His beckoning new life cannot arise.

2. Write down the date somewhere or mark it on a calendar.

3. If possible, write the number on the egg with a thin mercury pen.

4. Check if the bottom of the bone is dry, if wet, change the bone.

5. For those who breed in boxes, ensure that there is adequate nesting material or wood shavings, otherwise the eggs may roll and break.

6. If the pups stick to the egg, wipe it lightly with a wet cloth.

7. Cover the top face with paper to avoid direct sunlight.

8. Gradually increase protein-rich foods. For example - egg food, sprouted seeds, Sajna leaves, bhuta dal or chickpea dal boiled, etc.

9. Increase the amount of canary and sunflower seeds in the seed mix. Try to have more canaries in summer and sunflowers in winter.

10. Keep a 24-hour supply of clean food and water in the cage.

11. The cage must be lined with cuttlefish bone or sea foam. For finches and doves, add grits. Good, homemade grits to feed all the birds.

12. Give the bird water for regular bathing. Many people think that it causes problems with eggs, but regular bathing helps more eggs.

13. Ensure bird privacy. Do not go near the cage unless necessary. Warn the family members also about this. Avoid repeatedly poking or poking at the bone.

14. Regularly observe whether rats, cats, ants, lizards, cockroaches, mosquitoes etc. are disturbing the birds.

15. When the eggs are 5-6 days old, take them to a dark room and hold them under torch or candle light. A chart is given in the comment, by which you can easily understand which egg will hatch and which one will not. Throw away the spoiled eggs, so that the good eggs are properly heated and the mother bird is less distressed.

16. Observe if the mother bird is distressed inside the nest during summer. If you notice labored breathing, keep the fan on. You can lightly spray water from outside.

17. In winter, move the bulb that is placed next to the cage towards the bone.

Problems you may face:

1. Egg cracking: Eggshells can become soft and brittle due to initial breeding and lack of calcium. Cuttle fish bone and grit is the best solution to this problem, but it must be placed in the cage after the bird has mated.

2. Eating eggs: This is also caused by early breeding, first-time breeding, and lack of calcium and protein. This problem does not occur if the birds are fed a balanced diet and bred at the right time.

3. Don't lay it in the egg: This is mainly done by immature birds, i.e. during the first breeding period. Or the bird may stop feeding if it is scared for some reason. The only solution, in this case, is to transfer the eggs to another couple who are offering eggs of a similar age.

4. Egg binding: If the bird does not lay any more eggs within 48 hours of the last egg laying, the vents are swollen, the activity is reduced, and the bird sits quietly and dances in one place, then it should be understood that egg binding has occurred. Egg binding can be caused by early breeding, lack of rest, protein, and calcium deficiency. In that case, cod liver oil, a capsule of oil should be dropped into the bird's vent and massaged and some oil should be fed. If the eggs hatch after a while, the bird should be closely monitored and the eggs should be transferred to another pair.

5. Aggressiveness of female: When the breeding mood is over or if the birds are bred without rest or if the male-female bonding is not good, many times after laying the female starts hitting the male, not letting him rub around the bone. In that case, if possible, the bird should be given a long rest by transferring the eggs. If not possible, the male should be separated and the female should be provided with plenty of soft and nutritious food.

6. Eggs are not hatched in the nest but are laid somewhere else: This is a bad habit of birds. In that case, anything that can lay eggs cannot be kept in the cage. Water and food should be given in small pots. If necessary, more than one bone should be given and the bird with eggs should be given to the bone.
